More than 20 Webinars on Topics of Interest to the Community Are in the Works for 2020

This year, LACNIC’s Training Center will offer more than 20 webinars as a tool to strengthen the technical skills of the regional community.

These online training activities will be provided by LACNIC experts and external professionals, who will address topics of interest such as IPv6 development in the different countries of the region, new services offered by LACNIC, the creation of computer security incident response teams, Internet governance and routing security.

The webinars are part of the educational training tools that LACNIC offers free of charge to the different Internet stakeholders and participants will also have the chance to consult with the trainers. In addition, once completed, the community will be able to access the videos of the sessions on the LACNIC website.

First experiences. The first webinar of the year explained the process for requesting IP addresses and was geared towards organizations that require public IP addressing, both for providing services to third parties (ISPs) as well as for use in their own infrastructure.

The second online webinar – Implementation of LACNIC’s UpDown Service and KRILL – provided details of the operation and deployment of LACNIC’s service on an RPKI certificate provisioning protocol.

Within the framework of the call for candidates for Policy Development Process Co-Chair, LACNIC organized the webinar titled How to Become a Leader of the Internet community.

LACNIC also organized a purely technical session on Announcing IPv6 Prefixes and  eBGP/iBGP Routing with Mikrotik RouterOS which was taught by external consultant José Gregorio Cotúa.

What’s next. A variety of training activities are anticipated for the month of March. In line with the FORT Project by LACNIC and NIC.mx, sessions will be held on the RPKI Validator and the tool for monitoring routing incidents. In addition, a webinar will be held on IPv6 for newcomers and another on the creation of Internet public policy.
